Mary Baker Eddy Historic House 1875-1882

This is the first home Mary Baker Eddy, discoverer and founder of Christian Science, owned. Mrs. Eddy purchased the Italianate style house at 8 Broad Street in 1875. While residing in this house she published her primary work Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures and founded the Church of Christ, Scientist.
The house is owned and maintained by Longyear Museum, Chestnut Hill, MA.
One mile north on Rte 1A in Swampscott is the house where Eddy stayed 10 years earlier.

Currently this house is undergoing an extensive restoration with plans to be open to the public again at a future date.
